Alexander Alexandrov

Alexander Alexandrov, former Soviet cosmonaut, he flew 2 missions Soyuz T-9, Soyuz TM-3 All together he spent 309 days, 18 hours, 2 minutes in space. He was twice awarded the ‘Hero Of The Soviet Union’ awarded personally or collectively for heroic feats in service to the Soviet state and society.

“Alexandrov was the first Spaceman to land in Pontefract (and the only
Cosmonaut-so far.) He was touring England with Alexander Martynov, who
arranged all these visits. He also gave a public lecture and talked to
the King’s School and gave us an idea just what the Russians were
